When you want to give your customer the option to pause payments on their subscriptions for a limited time, there are multiple ways to implement this into eCurring. It all depends on what kind of pause you'd like to offer your customer.

Pause type 1:

Skip the payments in the paused period

With this type of pause, you are skipping all the payments that are scheduled within the paused period of the customer.

Example
When a customer pays each 20th of the month, and you pause someone's subscription from March 15th to April 15th, the last payment that took place was on February 20th and the next payment will take place on April 20th.

How to set this up in eCurring

  1. Navigate to the customer's profile
  2. Click on the subscription to get to Subscription details
  3. Under options (top right corner), choose 'Pause subscription'
  4. If known, enter a specific end date
  5. Save the change

The subscription will now be paused until the chosen end date, or indefinitely, until an end date is chosen.

Pause type 2:

Postpone all transactions to a later transaction date

With this type of pause, you are postponing the customers' transaction date to a later time, to temporarily relieve the customer of paying their fee.

Example
When a customer normally pays every 20th of the month, and you want to postpone their payments with 3 weeks. So instead, you want the customer to pay on the 5th of the next month. From that moment on, you want each transaction to be processed on the 5th of the month.

How to set this up in eCurring

Please note that the product your customer is connected to should have the process date set to "subscription day" for this option to work

  1. Navigate to the customer's profile
  2. Click on the subscription to get to Subscription details
  3. Under options (top right corner), choose 'Cancel subscription'
  4. Save the cancellation with end date today
  5. On the customer profile, choose 'Add subscription'
  6. Set the start date to the date you want your customer to be charged again and set the mandate to 'already accepted'

The new subscription will now schedule the first transaction for the chosen start date. From that moment on, every future transaction will be processed based on the new cycle.

Pause type 3:

Postpone a specific transaction in the subscription cycle

If you have a longer period in between payments, you might want to postpone a specific payment to a later date, but leave the other scheduled transactions as they are.

Example
Your customer has a transaction scheduled every 6 months. The next transaction will take place on April 1st, but you want to postpone that with one month to May 1st. The next payment should remain on October 1st.

How to set this up in eCurring

  1. Navigate to the customer's profile
  2. Click on the subscription to get to Subscription details
  3. In the transaction overview, click on the transaction you want to postpone and then on the transaction ID to go to Transaction details
  4. Under options, choose 'cancel transaction'
  5. Back on the subscription details, scroll down and choose 'New invoice'
  6. Recreate the cancelled transaction by adding a description and price
  7. As the 'transaction date' and 'invoice date', set the date on which you want the transaction to be charged instead

This invoice will now be opened and the connected transaction will be processed on the chosen date. All future transactions will occur as normal.
